Use Life Experience for Life's Work.  VOLUNTEER!

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) helps individuals 55 and older use their skills and life experience to work for their communities.  RSVP volunteers serve a few hours to twenty hours a week providing services ranging from answering the Consumer Hotline at the State's Justice Department, tutoring elementary school children to driving fellow seniors to medical appointments.  However, our volunteers choose to serve, they meet community needs and make a lasting difference.

Some retirees feel a lack of productivity when they no longer have regular job or schedule.  RSVP helps seniors stay active and involved.  Studies have shown that seniors who volunteer live longer, healthier and more fulfilling lives.

Marion County's RSVP program has been sponsored by the City of Woodburn for the past 23 years.  RSVP is administered by the Corporation for National Service.  Marion County RSVP has more than 60 volunteer work sites, enabling volunteer to choose how and where they want to serve.  The number of hours served is also dependent upon each volunteer's schedule.  Seniors who sign up for RSVP are provided supplemental person and auto liability insurance,  orientation and training.  They are invited to recognition events and receive the monthly RSVP newsletter.

RSVP is a cost effective way to solve critical problems in education, public safety, human needs and the environment.
