09/12/20 Update: Today's fire update, courtesy of the Marion County Emergency Operations Center (EOC)
No changes in current or expected threats or evacuation status this weekend for the valley cities of Woodburn, Hubbard, and Gervais.

With favorable conditions Friday, firefighters working the Beachie Creek Fire (Santiam Canyon and east of Silverton) and the Riverside Fire (East of Estacada and Molalla) made good progress in fire containment and extinguishment.

Favorable conditions are expected to remain over the weekend with light winds from the west keeping further westward extensions of both fires at bay. Smokey conditions are expected to improve slightly today (Saturday) with more improvement on Sunday.

Residents can view the most up to date evacuation zone map at the following link: https://www.co.marion.or.us/Alerts?AlertId=83

09/11/20 Update: The Woodburn Public Library will remain closed until Monday, September 14. See 09/10/20 update for additional details.

From the Woodburn Fire District:

Wildfire threats for the cities of Woodburn, Gervais, and Hubbard remains unchanged with no threats present or evacuation notices in place or expected for any of the cities.

There was very little new fire activity overnight (Thursday night) from the Beachie Creek Fire (Santiam Canyon - currently 10 miles east of Silverton) and Riverside Fire (east of Molalla, Colton, and Estacada).

Winds today are expected to be light from the southwest, transitioning to west later today and continuing from the west over the weekend. The change of wind direction is increasing the relative humidity and lowering air temperatures. These factors should significantly slow or stop further westward extension of the fires toward Silverton, Molalla and Colton and the smoke should begin to clear over the weekend with the change of wind direction. Light rain is currently forecast for early next week.

Estacada, Molalla, and Colton remain in Level 3 evacuation status due to a possible threat from the Riverside Fire; Canby and Oregon City are at Level 2.

09/10/20 Update: As of today, Wildfire threats for the cities of Woodburn, Gervais, and Hubbard remains unchanged with no threats present or evacuation notices in place for any of the cities.
