Bungalow Theatre

Adjacent to the Woodburn Museum lies the Bungalow Theatre a beloved fixture of Woodburn since 1911. This community theater includes historic cinema-related objects and old-time movie memorabilia. It is also home to monthly art galleries that showcase local artists and celebrate the diversity of Woodburn. With a small performance stage for musicians or theater groups, and a projector to run films or slideshows, the Bungalow Theatre is ready to grow and become a community gathering space.
Keep your eyes peeled for upcoming events and performances as programming in the theatre continues to expand!

VIVA WOODBURN: CELEBRATING LOCAL ART
By Brenda Valentin Bravo
September 12th - October 4th
Available for viewing Thursday, Friday & Saturdays 1:00-4:00pm
Brenda Valentín-Bravo is a proud Woodburn artist whose vibrant paintings celebrate culture, tradition, and identity. A self-taught painter, she carries deep family roots in San Jerónimo Puréchecuaro, Michoacán, and Las Mangas, Guanajuato, drawing inspiration from both her Purépecha heritage and her life in Oregon.
Her work explores the duality and playfulness in Mexican culture, transforming themes that might seem somber or even grotesque into brilliant displays of color and beauty. Each painting is a gathering of memories—of time spent in Mexico, of ancestral traditions, and of her indigenous roots. From cantaritos to skulls to hummingbirds, her art reflects a tapestry of cultura y raíces, brought to life through her bold, vibrant style.
Brenda’s love for art began in childhood, when she first picked up a pencil and began filling her world with color. Inspired by her mother’s folk art—handmade straw figures, mobiles, and traditional clothing—and a family legacy of artisans, Brenda has continued the tradition of creating pieces that embody cultural pride and personal storytelling.
“I pour all of who I am and where I come from into my paintings,” Brenda says. “Even in difficult times or in things that may not appear beautiful, I find color, life, and meaning. That is what I share in my work.”
Through her art, Brenda invites others to see the richness of her heritage and the beauty of transformation, tradition, and resilience. She is proud to share her work with the Woodburn community she calls home.
