National Night Out – Building Safer, Stronger Communities Together
What is National Night Out?
National Night Out (NNO) is an annual community-building event that promotes strong partnerships between neighborhoods, law enforcement, and local organizations. Celebrated on the first Tuesday in August, communities across the country come together to host block parties, BBQs, and other neighborhood gatherings with the goal of enhancing public safety and community spirit.
It’s a night to step outside, meet your neighbors, and connect with local police, fire, and city staff in a fun, informal setting.
The Purpose of National Night Out:
- Strengthen relationships between community members and public safety personnel
- Encourage neighborhood connections and crime prevention awareness
- Celebrate the importance of a united, engaged, and informed community
Ways to Get Involved:
Hosting or participating in a National Night Out event is easy! Here are a few ideas to get started:
- Organize a block party, potluck, or ice cream social
- Partner with local businesses for giveaways or entertainment
